- London's Olympics logo means 2012. But what about the dot in the middle?
- What does the 2012 Olympic logo look like to you?
Answer
Olympic LOGO, Olympic songs, Olympic opening and ending ceremonies are considered importantly as Olympic matches in every Olympic Games. So does London 2012 Olympics.
The symbol of the Olympic Games is composed of five interlocking rings, coloured blue, yellow, black, green, and red with the white background stand for those colors that appeared on all the national flags that competed in the Olympic games at that time. The five Olympic rings represent the five parts of the world involved in the Olympics. "The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tri- colours of France, England and America, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or Australia, with old Japan and new China," de Coubertin said, the original designer.
The construction and palette of the London 2012 logo has been considered very carefully – thinking about font, colour and image. The former is a ribbon with blue, yellow, black, green and red stripes winding through the text "LONDON 2012," and the shape likes the River Thames in East London. The latter, Wolff Olins changed the shape to a representation of the number 2012, with the Olympic Rings embedded within the zero and the new one was published on 4 June 2007.
By using interesting shapes and angles, and bright vibrant colours the logo creates a sense of energy. The brand colours are a modern twist on the colours of the Olympic symbol, blue, black, red, yellow and green. The colours are inspired by the world of media, communications and fashion. And the addition of the buzz outline (seen here in yellow) adds to the feeling of energy.
Another thing worthy to be mentioned is that this will be the first time that the same essential logo is to be used for both the Olympic and Paralympic games. The left one in above image is the logo of Paralympics.
